About Matt

‘Trained at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a prodigy of Professor Snape, Matt was only a few years above the boy who has since made the school famous. Matt and Harry have since become firm friends…..’

Alright, so I don’t really know Harry Potter. Nor did I go to wizard school. In fact, I got into magic in the same way as a great deal of magicians did.

When I was 8 years old, a lively fellow called Paul Daniels had his own show on television which was broadcast every Saturday night at around 6 or 7pm if memory serves.

Needless to say I loved it and would always make sure I was in front of the television in my pyjamas at least 10 minutes before it began. When it ended about an hour later, I would imagine being able to produce the same miracles I’d seen with cards, coins and objects borrowed from the audience.

My grandmother – seeing my interest in magic and ever-encouraging of delinquent behaviour – bought me a ‘Paul Daniels’ Magic Set’ that Christmas. That was the first step on the ladder of magic, although it wasn’t until I was bought further magic sets and found an actual magic shop in London when I was 12 that I really started to practice over and over to become the best magician I could be.

I was always fascinated by the magic I saw performed in that magic shop because it all happened up close, right beneath the scrutinising gaze of the onlookers. I marvelled at the ease with which the magicians entertained and deceived at the same time. I was hooked.

Since those first steps many years ago, I’ve become a professional magician in London and performed right across the UK from Plymouth to Edinburgh and I’ve worked at almost every conceivable type of event. I’ve also been flown to several different international destinations to perform at parties and product launches. Most recently, I was flown to Dubai to perform at the Kempinksi Hotel in the amazing Mall of the Emirates and subsequently was invited to perform at the launch of the Mercedes C-class in Abu Dhabi.

Wherever I’m performing in the world, I love the reactions I get. That moment when people see something impossible happen in front of their eyes – sometimes even in their own hands – is fantastic. Everyone has their own ‘inner child’ and my magic draws it out of people for just a moment, so they can marvel at something truly amazing.
